New dress code proposed for Steel Valley students

MUNHALL, Pa. — A new dress code has been proposed for Steel Valley students, kindergarten through grade 12.

If approved, students would wear navy or tan colored pants and shirts.  Dark or plaid colored skirts would be permitted for girls.

"Anytime you have less of a distraction from wardrobe, it does put a focus on academics," said Mike Terrick, the school's director.

Reaction from parents and students is mixed.

A vote is expected to take place later this month.
