Parents protest plan to close Moon Area elementary school

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Parents packed a Moon Area school board meeting to protest the possible closing of a school.

The district is considering closing Brooks Elementary School to save $500,000.

The district would spend $25 million to expand Allard and Hyde Elementary schools and send students from Brooks Elementary to those schools.

"Our school doesn't have to be state-of-the-art.  Our children need education first and they need stability and security. They need connections with the teachers, everybody and their friends," said parent Cloie Blair.

The school board will vote on the plan on June 23.
