Closed section of I-79 in Butler County reopens

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — 1:45 p.m. UPDATE: The lane restriction has been lifted on Interstate 79 North between Exit 83 (PA 528 - Evans City) and Exit 87 (PA 68 - Zelienople).

Interstate 79 northbound is closed between exits 83 and 87 in Butler County because of a tractor-trailer crash at mile marker 85, according to Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials.

Traffic is being detoured at exit 83 to Route 19 while crews work to clear the scene.

It’s unclear if any injuries were reported in the accident. The cause remains under investigation.
