Penn Hills residents feeling unsafe as road dumping continues

PENN HILLS — Residents on School Street in Penn Hills say they’re sick of all the garbage littered all over the sides of the street. The garbage includes shopping carts, hundreds of cans, a trailer, an old desk, chairs and a bedframe.

“You about name it, we’ve seen it,” neighbor Walter Stumpf tells Channel 11. “We had a boat here for the longest of times.”

Neighbors say all the garbage dumped on the street is bringing down the neighborhood.

“It doesn’t look good at all,” Stumpf added. “It makes it look like a neighborhood that nobody cares.”

A neighbor who has confronted the people doing it says she just wants it to stop.”It’s horrible and it’s been that way for years,” the neighbor said. “You want to be able to live and feel safe. This does not feel safe at this point.”

Neighbors say they’ve called code enforcement and things have improved slightly, but the garbage always builds back up. They want the people doing the dumping to stop immediately.

“I guess some people think they can just do what they want here,” Stumpf added. “Don’t be so lazy.”
