PITTSBURGH — The Square Café in East Liberty hosted a watch party event for the first and only debate between state Senate candidates Dr. Mehmet Oz and Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.
The topic that seemed to garner the most reaction was abortion. Many booed and cheered during that portion of the debate.
Two men, who both describe themselves as Fetterman supporters, had mixed reactions.
“I was a little disappointed, but I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt on language issues,” one man said of Fetterman’s performance.
“Yes, there were some issues ... the brain heals,” another said.
Both men were surprised with Oz’s answer on education, marking that as the highlight of his performance.
Overall, neither were happy with the number of questions they said were dodged.
“There were a couple of times I thought (Fetterman) could’ve been clearer in what he said. That also applies to Oz,” one man said.
“Neither of them did a very good job at answering questions. They preferred to attack the other guy.”
