Pickup truck crashes into Irwin funeral home

IRWIN, Pa. — Firefighters were called to clean up a mess after a driver lost control and crashed his pickup truck into a Westmoreland County funeral home.

Officials said the accident happened at the Snyder Funeral Home in Irwin.

Emergency crews said the truck crashed into two light poles and two fences before hitting the building.

"I was sleeping.  I heard this loud bang, like three different bangs, and got out of bed and came on my porch and heard him screaming for help," said neighbor John Pike.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries. His condition was not released.

According to a Channel 11 News crew at the scene, roads in the area were iced over at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
