A Pine-Richland School District High School custodian is facing charges for allegedly selling alcohol and THC vapes to students on school grounds.
Keon Barrett, 23, of Saxonburg, is facing several charges including criminal use of a communication facility, delivery of a scheduled substance and two counts of corruption of minors.
One student told police he gave Barrett $20 to purchase two cases of Twisted Tea from Sheetz. He said that Barrett complied, leaving the cases next to his vehicle.
Another student said that during a varsity basketball game, he and Barrett went into the cafeteria restroom, where he smoked from Barrett’s THC vape pen. He also told police that he communicated with Barrett on Snapchat about buying a THC pen and Twisted Teas, allegedly paying Barrett $10.
A letter sent to families on Feb. 6 said that the evening custodian was arrested and placed on immediate administrative leave pending the outcome of the police investigation and further proceedings.
The district said that “student and staff safety and well-being is a priority for the district” and encouraged anyone with information to contact Northern Regional police at 724-625-3157 or use the Safe2Say Something application or website to make an anonymous report.
