Pittsburgh celebrates St. Patrick's Day with annual parade

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh celebrated St. Patrick's Day on Saturday in downtown Pittsburgh with the second-largest parade in the United States.

The parade began at 10 a.m. and made its way through the downtown area.

This year's parade featured 23,000 participants and 18 marching bands.

Floats and many groups representing several Irish heritage and other ethnic heritage organizations also took part.

Family friendly activities -- including face painting, street performers, Irish music and dancing -- were held in Market Square during parade hours.
