Police: Boy calls 911 after grandma, dad pass out using heroin

NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. — Police said a 10-year-old New Brighton boy called 911 after finding both his father and grandmother passed out after using heroin.

According to New Brighton police, the boy first called emergency officials when he found his father in the bathroom.  Minutes later, police said, the boy called back to report that his grandmother was also unconscious.

“I was putting milk in his mouth and trying to keep him awake.  All of a sudden, I couldn’t move,” said the grandmother, Ginger Foust.

When police arrived, the boy's father and grandmother were revived and both charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Chad Kiser, 34, and Foust, 52, also face possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

Foust told Channel 11's Jodine Costanzo that before Friday's incident, she had been clean for 14 months.

Foust said she's thankful for her grandson's actions.

"He saved my life. For everyone out there -- don't do heroin," Foust said.

The boy is in the custody of Children Youth and Family Services but Foust said she and her son hope to regain custody.
