LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. - Police in Lawrence County are searching for a driver who led officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen SUV Tuesday night.

According to police, officers tried to pull over the SUV in New Beaver around 9:30 p.m. for a traffic violation, but the drive took off along Route 18.

The officers then began chasing the vehicle, reaching speeds as high as 100 mph, police said.

Authorities said the driver eventually lost control and ended up in a yard at the intersection of Routes 18 and 168 in North Beaver Township. The driver then fled the scene on foot and police have been unsuccessful in locating him or her.

Investigators told Channel 11 News a purse was found inside the SUV, but other than that, no other information has been released.
