Police: Couple had 2 kids with them at time of armed robbery

McKEES ROCKS, Pa. — A couple from McKees Rocks was arrested Sunday night after police said they had their two children with them during an armed robbery.

According to police, Tracy Hardy and Lemuel Howell had their 10- and 12-year-old children in their car Sunday night when they robbed a Spring Garden man near Marshalls Convenience Store.

Police said the alleged victim told them he was walking on Spring Garden Avenue around 8 p.m. when Howell got out of the car, pointed a gun at him and said, "Give me what you’ve got."

Investigators said the victim told them he gave Howell the $200 he had in his pockets.

Hardy and Howell were arrested a short time later, police said. Officers said they found marijuana and cash in the car’s console.

The crime scene used to be a place where neighbors felt safe, but not anymore.

“I was robbed twice in this neighborhood,” Dorothy Basel said. “No, (I don’t feel safe).”
