• Police need help identifying suspect in Fayette County rape


    HOPWOOD, Pa. - Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Uniontown barracks are investigating a reported rape of a 14-year-old girl early Sunday morning.

    According to police, the girl told authorities she was walking along Route 40 in Hopwood about 1:30 a.m. when a man asked her if she wanted to get into his vehicle.

    The girl told detectives that he promised her gifts if she got in, and he identified himself as Tom.

    The alleged victim told police she got in the car and that the man then drove to an isolated location in the area of Atlas Crossings Road. She said he then forced her to have sexual intercourse with him.

    According to the girl, the man then left her at the location and drove away.

    Investigators said the man is described as being about 22 years old, with black curly hair and some facial hair. Police said the girl said he was driving a dark red mid-sized SUV.
