Police: Recent bank robber accused of shooting at homes in other incident in Jeannette

JEANNETTE, Pa. — Police in Westmoreland County said they were able to quickly track down a bank robber.

According to police, Dionne McKelvin, who goes by the street name "Menace," tried to rob the First Niagara Bank on Clay Avenue in Jeannette.

"The front doors were shattered.  Both exterior and interior doors were shattered in what appeared to be gunshots," said Police Chief Shannon Binda.

Police said the incident happened Saturday and that there was no cash to access, as it was locked away in the bank's vault.

McKelvin reportedly cut himself during the incident, so police said they had a trail of blood to follow.

Police believe the same man shot up homes over Thanksgiving.  He was charged with attempted homicide.

In April, a judge reduced McKelvin's bail and he left jail.

McKelvin is now jailed on a $250,000 bond.
