Police say women brought toddlers with them during robbery attempt

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two woman are facing several charges after police said they brought their toddler children with them during an attempted robbery.

Investigators said Carlee Windsor, 20, and India Lee, 19, are accused of stealing about $500 worth of baby clothes from a Scott Township Walmart on Feb. 11.

Scott Township Police Sgt. Jeff Skees said the women paid for some items and then tried to leave the store without paying for everything. Skees said they were caught by a Walmart loss prevention officer.

“(Lee) had been caught in this Walmart approximately three prior times for retail theft,” Skees said.

According to Skees, Lee’s 2-year-old child was in a stroller during the alleged robbery. Skees said Windsor also had a toddler with her at the time.

Investigators said they believe the women used the children in hopes of appearing innocent.

“Putting the children in that situation is endangering the welfare of children. It’s a criminal act,” Skees said.

Authorities said both women are facing retail theft and child endangerment charges.
