Search intensifies for missing 81-year-old Bridgeville man

PITTSBURGH — Bridgeville police are asking for help finding a missing 81-year-old man who may have been outside in the cold since Thursday night.

Police said Laurie "Larry" McDonald last had phone contact with his family Thursday night around 9 p.m., when he said he was having car problems.

McDonald's wife told police he had just left a doctor's appointment when he told her about the car, but he said not to worry because he was close to a gas station.

Officers said McDonald's car was found on Ardmore Boulevard in Wilkinsburg. Police ask that people be on the lookout for McDonald in the Wilkinsburg area.

"Weather is definitely going to play a part. We want to find him as soon as we can. He's been missing more than 12 hours," Bill Young said.

Investigators said they think search dogs had a scent of McDonald but lost it because of the snow.

McDonald is described as a black man, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He also wears glasses.

Anyone with information on McDonald's whereabouts should call 911.
