Police: Suspect runs from cops after stealing from PNC Park store

PITTSBURGH — A man is accused of stealing baseball cards and badges from a team store inside PNC Park on Wednesday.

According to police, James Letzkus then led security on a chase outside PNC Park and into a local bar.

According to the police report, Letzkus was tripped up when a customer at a local bar threw a chair in front of him.

Authorities said Letzkus then fought off a baton-wielding officer and multiple Taser attempts.

Witnesses said it took three police officers to finally get Letzkus under control.

Albert Patilla, who bartends at Finnegans, said he saw the entire situation.

“A whole bunch of cops were there, it was crazy,” Patilla said. “Some girl threw a chair at him and knocked him down just enough for the cops to get him.”

Officials said Letzkus was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for evaluation.
