Police: Woman found in West Mifflin apartment was deceased for 2 weeks

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — The Allegheny County Housing Authority police chief told Channel 11 a woman was found dead inside an apartment, and they believe her body was there for about two weeks.

Officials also believe a man lived in the unit, but they haven’t been able to get in touch with him

One tenant, Louis Maisner, told 11 News he saw the man who lived there leave this morning.

“He took off in the parking lot this morning,” Maisner said. “He just waved to me, that’s all.”

Maisner and the other tenants who live at West Mifflin Manor watched as Housting Authority police and county homicide detectives went in and out of their building today.

He said the couple lived on the third floor of the high rise, and lately he smelled an odd odor in the building.

“I couldn’t explain what the smell was, but it was a nasty odor, like a body odor or something,” he said.

The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear, but the chief tells 11 News he doesn’t suspect any foul play.

However, there are still questions about why the the man didn’t call police when she died.

“He should have called the paramedics or the police, one or the other. Common sense will tell you to call the police if she was just lying there on the couch,” Maisner said.

This is a developing story.
