Strong storms moving through region

PITTSBURGH — Severe Weather Team 11 is tracking strong thunderstorms that are moving through the viewing area Sunday afternoon and are expected to continue into the evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that is effective throughout western Pennsylvania until 8 p.m. Areas under the watch include Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette and Westmoreland counties.

A Flood Advisory is in effect for Armstrong, Butler and Clarion counties until 8 p.m., and for Jefferson County until 8:15 p.m.

Heavy downpours and lighting, along with damaging winds and hail, are possible with stronger storms.

Wet weather will remain in the region through Monday as the threat of storms persists. Monday's high temperature is expected to be 80.
