Pregnant Beaver Co. woman accused of beating woman in head with hammer

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — A pregnant Beaver County woman accused of beating a woman in the head with a hammer has been released from jail.

According to the criminal complaint, Miona Finney is also accused of smashing the windows out of Dawnitta Adkins’ car.

The complaint said Adkins suffered cuts on her head from numerous hammer strikes.

Finney’s bond was lowered from $50,000 to $1,000 Thursday at a hearing.

Finney’s defense attorney Blair Jones said his client acted in self-defense.

“The other woman’s not without blame here. She came after my client with a tire iron and we plan on proving that in court,” Jones said.

Jones also said Finney shouldn’t be in jail because she is pregnant.
