President Obama, VP Biden to visit Leetsdale Wednesday

LEETSDALE, Pa. — President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will attend an event in Leetsdale on Wednesday, the White House announced Friday.

According to a White House statement, the event will be related to the economy. The statement didn’t say where or when the event will take place.

White House officials said more details will be made available in the coming days.

Leetsdale, a tiny borough on the Ohio River, is home to a 126-acre riverfront industrial park at what was formerly a Bethlehem Steel facility. Tenants include Schroeder Industries, Air Products and Chemicals, steelmaker Arcelor Mittal, Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary Shaw Industries, oil and gas giant Weatherford International and the aluminum company Almatis, Inc., an Alcoa subsidiary.

Obama last traveled to Western Pennsylvania on the day after his State of the Union Address in January, when he signed an executive order creating a retirement savings plan at the U.S. Steel Irvin Plant.
