• Risky meats rankings: Chicken, ground beef are most dangerous

    PITTSBURGH - Chicken and ground beef are the most dangerous meat and poultry products, according to a study by the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

    The nonprofit group analyzed more than 33,000 cases of foodborne illness connected to products regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in the 12-year study.

    Chicken nuggets, ham and sausage pose the lowest risk of severe foodborne illness, according to the study.

    Deli meats, pork, roast beef and barbeque meats fall in the medium risk category, and steak and turkey are in the high-risk category.
