DELMONT, Pa. — An accident involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck completely shut down Route 22 in both directions for several hours near Delmont, Westmoreland County Tuesday morning.
A photo taken at the scene showed the truck on its side near Cloverleaf Drive in Salem Township shortly after 6 a.m.

A pickup truck was wedged under the tracktor-trailer, and a car was also involved in the accident.

Chief Bob Rizzotti of the Forbes Road Fire Department told Channel 11 the tractor-trailer, which was hauling garbage, hit the car and the truck.
Three people were taken to the hospital.

The driver of the pickup truck was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital in critical condition. Firefighters had to cut him out of the vehicle.
A woman in the car was taken by ambulance to a hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained oin scene, where Channel 11 news witnessed police giving him a field sobriety test.
A flagger in a nearby construction zone fell down and was taken to the hospital.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the casue of the accident.
