Gusty winds, hail expected in surrounding areas

None — PITTSBURGH --A surge of warm air ahead of a fairly strong late-winter cold front may trigger showers and thunderstorms across the area through Wednesday night.

WEATHER: CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS

Some of the storms could be strong with damaging wind gusts and large hail.

The storm is part of the same system that spawned nearly a dozen tornadoes across the Midwest early Wednesday morning.  The bulk of the severe weather should stay south of the Pittsburgh area, but severe weather cannot be ruled out.

Once the cold front passes through, temperatures will fall into the lower 40s by early Thursday morning.  Other than cloudy skies, the Thursday morning commute should be quiet.
