Steelers hire new tight ends coach

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have hired Alfredo Roberts as their new tight ends coach.

Roberts replaced James Daniel, who retired after the 2020 season.

According to the team, “Roberts spent the last four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, including as their tight ends coach in 2020. Prior to that he was the Chargers running backs coach for three seasons (2017-19) where he coached Steelers’ fullback Derek Watt.”

Roberts has 17 years of coaching experience in the NFL.

He began his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He then went on to coach for the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Roberts has also worked for the Indianapolis Colts, with whom he spent four seasons.

Roberts is originally from Florida, where he graduated from the University of Miami, and was a tight end on two National Championship teams.
