Surveillance video shows men stealing from Union Township scrap yard

UNITY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police have released surveillance video that they hope will help them identify two men accused of stealing scrap metal earlier this week in Union Township.

The video clearly shows the men going back and forth, loading their truck at Diliscia Stone Contractors along Route 837.

"We are lucky, in this instance, we have video evidence," said Southwest Regional Police Chief John Hartman/. "We can hope to identify who the perpetrators were, but we need to be aware."

Hartman said the thefts are a common occurrence.

"What we are finding is that more and more of these type of thefts are occurring for whatever reason; the economy, unemployment rates, what have you," said Hartman.

The truck the two men used was a dark-colored Dodge, police said.  Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
