HICKORY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The driver in an accident that killed an off-duty firefighter has been charged with homicide by vehicle.
Police said Daniel Gallatin was killed May 7 when an SUV hit his motorcycle in Hickory Township.
Laura Gargiulo, the driver of the SUV, also faces a number of other charges, including involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault. Investigators said she was texting while driving.
The Lawrence County District Attorney obtained Gargiulo’s phone records to determine whether she was texting at the time of the crash.
Gargiulo is in the Lawrence County jail on $50,000 bond.
