Target 11: Pittsburgh police officers no longer allowed baseball hats

PITTSBURGH — Channel 11 has learned the new Pittsburgh Public Safety Director sent out a memo this week saying that Pittsburgh police officers will not be allowed to wear baseball hats, only their dress hats, starting Sept.1.

Officers told Target 11 they are not happy and will file a grievance on this issue.

Pittsburgh police spokesperson Sonya Toler gave Rick Earle the following statement on the issue: "Director Bucar's point of view is that the standard police uniform hat is in line with the professional image of the Police Bureau. Law enforcement agencies around the world have similar standards of dress. The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is no different."
