Thousands help raise money for breast cancer patients during “More Than Pink” walk

PITTSBURGH — The Susan G Komen Foundation held its “More Than Pink” walk in Pittsburgh’s Schenley Park on Sunday.

4,500 people participated in this year’s walk.

The event helps raise funding to support breast cancer patients, research, and patient navigation services.

“Nationally, one out of 8 women will hear the words, ‘you have breast cancer,” and sadly in PA, it’s one out of 7 women. It does affect everyone in some way,” said Molly Sweet with the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

This was the second year in a row the event has been held in person.

Officials say they raised $270,000 and hope to reach $500,000 by June 17.
