Wires and lines were also down on the roadway.

The situation left businesses within the Collier Township shopping plaza without electricity and air conditioning, causing them to close.

Officials said the incident would cause Washington Pike to be closed between Greentree Road and Thomas Run Road for several hours.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday, electricity had been restored but roads remained closed due to a hanging power line. Crews are assessing the situation.
