Tri-axle tuck overturns on Route 422 in Lawrence County; Driver airlifted

SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The driver of a tri-axle truck that overturned Tuesday morning in Lawrence County was flown to a local hospital with a severe head injury.

Lawrence County 911 dispatchers said the truck overturned along Route 422 in Slippery Rock Township just after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Emergency crews had to cut the driver out of the truck, officials said. His name hasn’t been released.

Gravel that the truck was carrying spilled all over the road, causing problems while crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.

One lane of Route 422 is open, and traffic is reportedly backed up about a mile.
