Vandals burn down concession stand, damage South Union Twp. park

SOUTH UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police in South Union Township are looking for those responsible for vandalizing Hutchinson Park late Thursday night.

Authorities said an umpire who worked a game Thursday called police and alerted them to the damage.

Officials with the township said several picnic benches were damaged, toilet paper was thrown everywhere, and the park's concession stand was burned to the ground.

Everything inside the concession stand at the time, product and equipment, was lost.

“It just takes the life out of you because there are so many things that you can’t replace. It’s just a shame,” Township supervisor Thomas Frankhouser said.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to contact police.
