Vandals paint hate-filled message on Brookline family's home

PITTSBURGH — Police are investigating after a home in Brookline was vandalized.

Jason Powell and Marlene Williams discovered hateful words and swastikas spray-painted on the garage door of their home Friday.

"Whoever decided to do that, they need to grow up and get a life. Get the ignorance out of your system," said Powell.

The couple, who has lived in the home with their 5-year-old daughter for three years, doesn't know why they were targeted.

"It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I just want my daughter to be safe," said Williams.

Until the graffiti is removed, the family is keeping the garage door raised.
