Volunteers shave their heads, raise money to fight childhood cancer

ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. — The Ellwood City Volunteer Department hosted a Saint Baldrick’s event on Saturday at the Wayne Township fire hall.

Volunteers shaved their heads to raise money to fight childhood cancer.

The event was held in memory of Gavin Meyers on Saturday. Gavin died shortly after his first birthday from a neuroblastoma. His parents were amazed by the support.

"A lot of our family is involved and really helped us get through this," said Rick Meyers.

The event has raised more than $50,000 since it started four years ago.
