• Warrant issued for man accused of trying to light girlfriend on fire

McKEES ROCKS, Pa. - Police are looking for a McKees Rocks man accused of trying to light his girlfriend on fire during an alleged domestic dispute.

Police said an arrest warrant has been issued for 24-year-old Mark Mitchell. Mitchell, according to police, tried to light the mother of his child on fire Wednesday night.

Investigators said neighbors told police they could hear the alleged victim screaming during the altercation inside a Sara Street apartment.

“The victim reported that Mitchell burned her with a cigarette lighter and attempted to light her hair on fire,” McKees Rocks police Chief Robert Cifrulak said.

Cifrulak said the couple’s young child was home during the alleged incident, but was not injured.

“Charges include aggravated assault and risking a catastrophe,” Cifrulark said.

Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski reported that Mitchell has a criminal history and several outstanding warrants for traffic violations. He also is awaiting trial for drug possession.

Anyone with information on Mitchell's whereabouts is asked to contact police.
