School bus driver accused of drinking on the job accused of DUI again, police say

WASHINGTON, Pa. — A Washington County school bus driver accused of drinking on the job Thursday was arrested and accused of DUI again Friday night, police said.

The driver, Miguel Rivera, 49, was scheduled to make three runs with students from Washington Park Elementary School Thursday morning. Before the third group was set to depart, teachers said they smelled alcohol on Rivera and called police.

Police said Rivera blew a .081 percent when taking a Breathalyzer test and will be charged via summons. He faces nearly 150 charges of endangering the welfare of children.

According to police, Rivera had made two runs with 147 children before teachers finally noticed the smell of alcohol.

Channel 11’s Dave Bondy said Rivera has a CDL license, which means there is a zero tolerance for any alcohol in your system while on the job.

Rivera posted on his Facebook page Thursday night, “These (expletive) are trying to make me look like I was drinking in the morning (expletive) up my image. All I had was beers and wings the night before.”

Rivera worked for GG&C Bus Company, which issued the following statement:

“We're committed to providing safe transportation with drivers who are compliant as well as having the safest vehicles."

Officials with the company said Rivera has been fired.

Authorities have not released any details surrounding Rivera’s Friday night arrest.

Police said Rivera will be sent a summons in the mail for DUI charges.
