Westmoreland County man charged after he stabbed a coworker with utility knife

The worker who was stabbed in the back at Omnova Solutions in Jeannette is out of the hospital and home after a work confrontation turned violent on Thursday morning.

Police said the suspect, Scott Woodmancy, was called into the office for a violation of safety protocols.

The victim was in the meeting, as well as the plant manager and another coworker.

Officers wrote in police paperwork, “During the meeting, Woodmancy became irate and swung his left fist at [the victim] and missed him.”

”Woodmancy then pulled a utility knife out of his right side pants pocket with his right hand, reached over [the victim] as [the victim] was pushing him away and stabbed [the victim] in his back,” according to a criminal complaint.

Jeannette police said the knife was a ceramic utility knife. Investigators found it on the floor of the office where the alleged attack happened.

Woodmancy was found in his normal work area in the back of the plant.

He was charged with aggravated assault, but was released from jail after making bail.

Channel 11 reached out to the victim, and he said he didn’t want to comment on the attack.

We also tried to contacting Woodmancy and Omnova Solutions but did not hear back.
