Scottdale woman attacked with baseball bat after recording child left unattended in car

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Scottdale woman is in the hospital after a brutal attack outside of an apartment building Monday night.

Nicole Moore is facing charges and is in jail on $50,000 for the alleged assault.

“It was sickening, when they put her on the stretcher, the scream she let out… I’ve had nightmares about it all night,” a witness and friend of the victim said.

She did not want to be identified, but said she witnessed the assault.

Witnesses told police that Moore became angry because the victim, Tiara Stout, was recording a 3-year-old child left behind in the backseat of Moore’s car.

“Tiara is a mom. Her motherly instincts kicked in. We saw a baby in the car unattended, by themselves,” the woman said.

Witnesses said Stout was trying to help after she saw the child was alone in a car behind the apartment building.

“She wasn’t doing anything wrong. She was just being a mom.”

Police said Moore left the child and was inside the building.

When she came outside, witnesses said she started yelling about the video recording.

“She’s very irate, she’s acting crazy, she takes a baseball bat out of the car and hits Tiara three times with the baseball bat,” the witness said.

Police said the victim tried to throw a brick back at Moore.

Moore got in her car to leave, but police said she hit the victim and ran her over.

“She was ran over three times. Everyone was saying she was just ran over once, no. She was drug forwards, backwards and then ran over again,” the witness explained.

Tire tracks were left in the neighboring yard from where police said Moore took off.

Friends of the victim said they don’t believe the two really knew each other and were not aware of any history between the two.

Friends said Stout has serious injuries and has a long road to recovery.

“She has five children. Five. You’re taking a mother away from their children. That’s sickening. Her kids need her,” she said.
