Woman, 83, hides in bedroom as deer run through Canonsburg home

CANONSBURG, Pa. — An 83-year-old woman's house was badly damaged when three deer jumped through her living-room window and ran around inside her Canonsburg home on Saturday.

Dorothy Pantely told Channel 11's Cara Sapida that she immediately called 911 after the deer began running through her house.

"It was the worst thing I have ever heard. It was a loud crash, and I thought, 'There goes my tree,'" Pantely said.

Pantely said she used her Life Alert necklace to call 911 as she hid in her bedroom.

"I told them there were two reindeer that just came through my living room window and they were running around my house," Pantely said.

Pantely said North Strabane police arrived within minutes, but her living room, kitchen and Christmas presents and decorations were already in shambles.

"I got a beautiful nativity set for Christmas from my grandchildren, and they broke almost all of it," Pantely said.

Pantely said she's now able to laugh about the incident.

"Of course, my kids are making a big joke out of it and saying, 'Grandma got run over by a reindeer,'" Pantely said.
