Woman arrested for shooting man during breakup at Plum home, neighbors react

PLUM BOROUGH, Pa. — Allegheny County police said a woman shot her boyfriend several times in Plum after he broke up with her. County police said Plum Borough police responded to Emerald Drive around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for a shooting.

Neighbors shared Ring doorbell video that shows the victim flagging down a car in his neighborhood and begging for help after being shot.

The neighbor who shared one of the videos said it was shocking.

“I just heard somebody yelling ‘help me help me,’ I didn’t know what was going on. I was a little bit scared to go outside,” said neighbor Amanda Fortuna.

The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the chest, shoulder and hand.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police his girlfriend, Crystal Veasey, shot him with his gun after they got into an argument in his home because he wanted to break up with her.

He ran outside for help and police said Veasey then chased after him with a knife.

“It was very surreal for something like that to happen in this neighborhood. I never would imagine anyone getting shot or any incident happening here,” said Fortuna.

A family who lives next door told me four bullets hit their home. They showed us the bullet holes both inside and outside. The father said one bullet was 5 feet away from his 1-year-old toddler and another bullet was a foot away from his wife’s head.

The father called 911 and then saw the victim outside bleeding and yelling ‘she shot me.’ The father also saw Veasey holding a knife and a hammer.

Right now, Veasey faces serious charges including attempted homicide and aggravated assault. She is in the county jail. Bail was denied, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 26.

County homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. Right now, Channel 11 is working to get an update on the victim’s condition.
