Woman Attacked, Robbed Near Washington Jefferson College Campus

WASHINGTON, Pa.,None — A Washington County woman said she feared the worst when she was attacked and robbed last Thursday night near the Washington Jefferson College campus.

Lisa Fehrmann said she was just blocks from her home when two men jumped out of some bushes and attacked.

"As soon as I started walking here is when they came up behind me," Fehrmann said.

Fehrmann said she believes the men were hiding in brush under a railroad trestle off of East Maiden Street.

"They ripped my purse off of my shoulder then threw me up against the wall so I guess I couldn't see their faces," Fehrmann said. "I fought back a little bit. I wasn't just going to let them do what they want. I didn't know if they wanted something else other than to take my money."

After a few seconds Fehrmann said she decided to stop fighting back in an effort to save her own life.

"I was thinking I was going to die. I was thinking that I would die, get shot, raped or everything and all of the above," Fehrmann said.

The area where the attack happened is in the same neighborhood as Washington Jefferson College where thousands of students walk the same sidewalks.

Fehrmann said she wanted to tell her story so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

"Be attentive of your surroundings, don't be afraid to stare at somebody in the face, always look at them so you have a good description of them," said Fehrmann.

Fehrmann said the robbery has prompted her to now carry mace. She said she hopes someone saw something to that her attackers can be put behind bars.
