Woman charged with child endangerment due to alleged deplorable conditions

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A New Castle woman is facing endangering the welfare of children charges after police said they found kids living in deplorable conditions.

Authorities said they went to 23-year-old Autumn Herbert’s West Grant Street home and found children living in alleged deplorable conditions.

According to police, officers found garbage, debris and clothing completely covering the floor.

After officers contacted Lawrence County Children and Youth Services, CYS took custody of the children.

Herbert faces a preliminary hearing on March 27.
