Woman injured in hit-and-run accident on North Side

PITTSBURGH,None — A woman was hit by a car Tuesday on the North Side and the driver fled the scene, police said.

Officials said the hit and run happened on Sandusky and North Avenue at about 7:30 a.m.

Dearra Moore, 18, said a burgundy sports utility vehicle hit her less than 100 yards from where she dropped her son off at daycare.

"Her right headlight just hit me in the side and I jumped off my feet," Moore said. "What if I was with my baby? We could have been seriously hurt."

Moore said her badly bruised hip will cause her to miss some time at work.

"It really hurt my side and I was in panic," Moore said.

She also said she hopes the driver comes forward.

"She said sorry and rolled her window back up," Moore said. "When I turned around to get her license plate number she drove away really fast."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
