Police: Man in wheelchair stabs woman in South Oakland

PITTSBURGH — Police said a man in a wheelchair stabbed a woman in South Oakland Wednesday.

"Someone came in my house and attacked me," said Edward Jackson.

Police said the violence erupted as Jackson argued with a woman inside a home.

"I'm going to jail for some woman attacking a paralyzed person," said Jackson.

Investigators said Jackson is handicapped, but he's not an innocent victim.  Sources said the woman, who lives on the third floor of this house, heard Jackson and others talking about her, so she confronted them.  Police said Jackson then stabbed her in the chest and back.

Neighbors said Jackson is a good father.

"He's always at the bus stop, picking them up.  He wheels them back to the house.  He was just having a yard sale – very community-oriented," said a neighbor.

Investigators believe Jackson and the woman are romantically involved.  Jackson denies that.

"I don't even really know her name.  She lives on the third floor.  She attacked me," he said.
