Woman steals shopper's purse from grocery store; Surveillance image released

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Police are seeking help in finding a woman accused of stealing another woman's purse from a West Mifflin grocery store on Friday.

Investigators said the suspect struck up a conversation with the victim, Sue Anne Gratton, inside of the area's Shop ‘n Save.

“She said, ‘Does it melt creamy or does it stretch like rubber? Because I want it for lasagna,’” Gratton said.

Police said the thief grabbed Gratton's purse from the victim's shopping cart when she became distracted and walked out of the store.

“It was right there, then I bent over to pick up bags and I turned around and it was gone,” Gratton said.

Gratton told authorities she lost her license, credit cards and insurance cards, as well as $110 in cash.

“I know who she is. I know what she looks like, and I’m gunning for her,” Gratton said. “She doesn’t want me to find her.”

The suspect is described as a white woman, between 5 feet and 5 feet 3 inches tall, with a heavy build and short dark hair.

Anyone with information should call the West Mifflin Police Department at 412-461-3125.
