• Mastercard tests fingerprint-enabled credit cards

    Mastercard is testing in-store payment cards with fingerprint sensors.
     
    The new biometric cards build on fingerprint scanning technology used for mobile payments.

    Chip technology combines with the fingerprint to verify the cardholder's identity for in-store purchases while the user holds their finger over the sensor.
     
    The cards are currently being tested in South Africa.
     
    Mastercard hopes to roll them out to the rest of the world by the end of the year.
