Facebook says it will not change some of its political ad policies

In a blog posted on Thursday, Facebook says it will continue running political ads -- and it will not prevent politicians from lying in ads they buy on the platform.

Facebook says it’ll allow users to control more of the ads they see in their news feed, including limiting how many appear.

Wednesday, a Facebook executive told lawmakers on Capitol Hill that the company uses third-party fact-checkers to look into any questionable or flagged content.

Liberal critics have pushed social media giants to do a better job at policing its platforms, while conservatives argued free speech.

With no change, Facebook is essentially saying they are doing the best they can without government guidance and see little benefit to the company or the public in changing.

Facebook says it is also making it easier to search for ads in its ad library, where political ads are saved for seven years.
