The number of chronic wasting disease cases is growing.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission says it’s been seeing more infected deer than in years before.
Chronic Wasting Disease is a contagious neurological disease that affects deer.
The Game Commission says in 16,000 samples taken in 2019, 10,000 have been tested. Of those, 148 tested positive for CWD.
The Game Commission is working to establish a response plan, which includes thinning the herds in affected areas.
Public comment on the plan is being accepted through the end of the month.
