• PATCO resumes service after severe storms damage stations

    Updated:
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - PATCO service between Philadelphia and New Jersey has resumed after it was suspended for several hours due to storm damage.

The Port Authority Transit Corporation resumed the service at noon Thursday. It was operating under a special schedule that would be posted at the agency's website.

The service had been suspended early Thursday after severe storms containing heavy rains and gusty winds roared through the area. Several stations were flooded, while stones that hold the tracks in place were washed away in some areas.

The various storm damage knocked out service between eight stations from Lindenwold to Broadway in Camden, PATCO said the Woodcrest and Ferry Avenue stations were particularly hard hit.
