Police: Man drags friend out of his Ambridge apartment after he overdoses

AMBRIDGE, Pa. — Ambridge police showed only Channel 11 the graphic video of what they're calling total disregard for human life.

Police say Thomas Hegner dragged his unconscious friend out of his apartment after the overdosed.

The man who overdosed is alive, but police now have a warrant out for Hegner.

The overdose happened inside a Fourth Street apartment in Ambridge around lunch time late last week, police said.

“When you overdose seconds count in here. This guy isn’t getting any help for minutes,” Ambridge Police Chief Jim Mann said.

Officers say the apartment surveillance camera shows Hegner never tried to help his friend.

Hegner ran out of his apartment and told the victim's girlfriend not to call 911 or call for help, police said.

“It's all about not in my apartment. Who does this we're just glad we have the video to show exactly what happened,” Mann said “The drug epidemic is everywhere.... but this video shocked even the most veteran police officers.”

The victim survived.

Hegner will be facing reckless endangerment and drug charges.
