Police seek driver involved in hit-and-run that sent girl to hospital

PITTSBURGH — Police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that sent a girl to the hospital Saturday night during a fireworks show in Lawrenceville.

A witness tells Channel 11 that the girl was bleeding from her head and one leg when she crawled to the sidewalk. A nearby woman, who was a nurse, started tending to the girl until paramedics arrived.

Ronald Lienemann, who was watching the fireworks show less than a block away, was surprised to hear what had happened.

"You don't want to hear anything like that. It's scary," he said.

The incident occurred on the 200 block of 40th Street.

Police have not released any information regarding their search.

The girl was released from Children’s Hospital with only minor injuries
